Cocktail Hour

This is a time to interact and chat with friends and family, to eat lightly, and take some time for photos before the reception starts. Music for this time is usually some light and mellow jazz, and/or jazzy arrangements of other styles of music such as pop and soul. Examples might include Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and “Perfect,” Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” or “Fly Me To The Moon,” Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why,” and Andrea Bocelli’s “Besame Mucho.”

Traditional Ceremony Music

Classical style in nature, traditional ceremony music provides a relaxing and familiar vibe that everyone can enjoy. Played mainly on classical guitar, songs such as Tarrega’s “Lagrima,” Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus/Here Comes The Bride,” and Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March,” are perfect as guests are being seated, as the bride enters, and as everyone exits, respectively.

Reception

Time to party and dance! The reception is the perfect time to let loose and drink and eat away all the stress and anxiety that can come with a wedding. Appropriate music for this time is upbeat music that people can dance and sing along to. Some examples might include Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and Avicii’s “Wake Me Up.”
